From Aug. 1st, 2014 to Aug. 10th, 2014, Prof. Liu Hong and her team attended the 40th COSPAR Scientific Assembly in Moscow and visited Russian Institute of Biomedical Science.
After the USSR launched its first Earth Satellite in 1957 and thereby opened the space age, the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), now the International Council for Science, established its Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) during an international meeting in London in 1958. COSPAR's objectives are to promote on an international level scientific research in space, with emphasis on the exchange of results, information and opinions, and to provide a forum, open to all scientists, for the discussion of problems that may affect scientific space research.The meeting hosted by Lomonosov Moscow State University and Russian Academy of Sciences, more than 2200 scientists from all over the world attended this conference.
At this meeting, Professor Liu Hong did one academic report entitled “Bioregenerative Life Support Experiment for Three-Member Crew in a Closed Integrative Experimental Facility LUNAR PALACE 1”, introducing Lunar Palace 1's important research achievements, which drew extensive attention and enthusiastic responses of the international counterparts. Experts attending this meeting congratulated Lunar Palace 1's complete success warmly.
Around this general report, Dr. Xie Beizhen and five students from Prof. Liu’s team delivered six presentations respectively. Through beneficial exchanges and passionate discussions with experts from NASA, Russian Academy of Sciences and ESA and so forth , Prof. Liu’s research team won the high praise from the international counterparts, expanded their international influence and obtained a large amount of valuable opinion and suggestion.
