Doctoral student Dong Chen attended the 19th IAA Humans in Space International Symposium held in Cologne from July 6th，2013 to July 12th，2013. He represented Prof. Liu to do presentation in bioregeneration parallel session and visited German Aerospace Center.
This IAA Humans in Space Symposium is sponsored by International Academy of Astronautics aiming to promote the research ideas, methods and results about life science in manned space.This symposium holds every two years. By now, this meeting has held 18 times in Switzerland, Germany, Japan, France, the United States, China and so forth. It is a high-level international conference within the manned space territory and the head of space life science, famous experts and the astronauts all extremely attach importance to this meeting.
The main theme of the symposium is "Linking the challenges of space exploration with medicine on Earth." Doctoral student Dong Chen on behalf of Prof. Liu did the oral presentation named “LUNAR PALACE 1 as an Integrative Experimental Facility for Permanent Astrobase Life-support Artificial Closed Ecosystem (P.A.L.A.C.E.)” and introduced the research achievement from doctoral student Sun Yi in the form of academic poster. Through a warm discussion with international counterparts, Prof. Liu’s research team expanded their international influence and received valuable comments and suggestions. Finally, international counterparts gave high evaluation to the research achievements obtained by our lab and wished a complete success on our "P.A.L.A.C.E." project.
